This is a fantastic thread. I m following it regularly for the past 6 months. It really helped a lot with respect to my reparation for h1.
Ok. I appeared for h1 on 30th. My slot was at 9.45. I reached there around 9.15 and allowed inside. After waiting for 30 minutes, I met one of the VFS guys at the counter who verified all the docs and put it in the green folder and asked me to go the next building.
I stood in first queue for 5 minutes for finger printing. Here they didnt ask any question. But they seems to ask questions here too. I have seen some candidates being asked to show lot of documents here itself.
Once I passed this, they put me back to the same queue again(There is one dedicated finger printing queue and two additional windows used for the same in case of long queue. these window otherwise process b1 visas and h1 visas.
The office asked me only few questions.
1. Show me your degree cert?
2. Were you working in US before?
3. Are you going to work inhouse or client( I gave the client letter at this point).
He approved my visa in two minutes.
Based on watching these thread for long, I belive It is not that Chennai they dont want to issue VISA, But they really want to issue to the right person.
From my view it depends
1. Yourself
a. Your qualitification(BE(CSE)/MCA might prove
adv)
b. Your experience(5+ may be)
c. Your current indian employer(US MNCs here in india)
d. Your previous US visits (b1s, l1s)
e. University (Andhra universities normally goes throuh additional scrutiny)
2. Your employer(US)
a. Their past record with INS/consulate
b. Their income, Number of employees &
Number of H1b employees. run by Indians!!! as mere body shop
e. and so on.
3. Your client(If any)
Same as above.
I think, If you are very strong, then you can makeup for even if your employer is not top in the list. (All the cases from my employer were rejected except two of us, both of us had very strong back ground indivdually). If you are week and if you employer and client is also week(which is true for almost 80% of cases), then comes this 221g and the infinite loop of back and forth.
