H1B, H4 Visa

My appointment was at 2.45PM on 26th Sep. I went to consulate at 2PM. Security verified the passport no. against the same in web appointment before allowing inside. Once you enter, there is one more round of security check. They will check if u hv any kind of sealed envelopes. So keep ur envelopes open. After I enter into the main hall, I hv given 441/- DD to TTS. Then I went to the cashier and gave my two DD's. Cashier asked me to write my name and passport no on the back side of each DD. She kept 4400/- with her and gave back 2200/- and two receipts(yellow and white). You must keep the recepts and DD with u. As I haven't travelled to US before, I was sent to interview hall directly.

After I entered into the interview hall, I hv
submitted my DS 156&157, h1b docs(I129 etc), web appointment printout, passport, DD, white&yellow receipts in a counter. she put them back in a blue envelope and returned it to me. Then I was asked to stand in a queue for H1. Luckyly all the interviewers for h1b on that day are guys. The conversation follows...

Me: Good afternoon sir..
Con: (No response. staring at the docs)
Con: Can I see ur university certificates..
     (I hv given my consolidated memo and provisional)
Con: Hv u given ur finger prints today?
Me: No
Con: give it now..
Me: (I hv put my left & right index fingers on the indicated place.)
Con: Thats great.
     (he closely checked my university certificates against some thing in his computer for one min)
Con: How long u r working in this company
Me: for two months.
Con: Then ur papers were filed prior to ur joining.
     How does it happend?
Me: I posted my resume in Naukri.com. This comp saw it and approached me. They selected me for this reqmnt after taking 2 rounds of interview.
Con: What is ur current assignment at this comp.
Me: I am working on a product called YYYY XX.
This helps the voice applications to acheive towards better customer satisfaction. This is basically a onsite-offshore model. This is being developed at onsite with the coordination of offshore. 3 people are working at onsite and 5 people are at offshore.
Con: So u r going to join them soon.
     Where is it happening in US.
Me: headquarters is in Princeton, New Jersy and onsite development center is in North Brunswick.
Con: When are you planning to take ur family, I mean..When will u take ur wife to US?
Me: After 2-3 months
Con: There are no appointments till March. How will u take her...
Me: (dont know what to tell...)She applied for her passport. After getting that, she will take an appoinment.
Con: Do u hv children?
Me: No
Con: Pay the fee in counter no. 1 and wish u all the best for ur journey to US.

display ur id card while u r in consulate. that gives u better look and confidence. Talk face to face at the time of interview.. Dont turn ur face to the mic. If he couldnt hear ur voice, he will increase the volume of speaker.
