H1B, H4 Visa

First, let me start by acknowledging that it can often be a nerve wracking experience for many. Stay calm and collected - as long as you have a legitimate case (and I believe, most do), you will be fine. It is a matter of 'when', not 'if'. I'd like to share my (fairly straightforward) experience with you. Hopefully, it will help some who may be nervous renewing their H1-B

Background - H1B extension (after 6 years). I've been at the same company (private consulting firm - Big 4) for the last 6 years. My I797 approved, and had my last stamping done in Mumbai via dropbox in 2015. Please check the website to confirm you meet the eligibility criteria.

Timeline:

August 1 (Wed) - Dropped off documentation at the VFS Mumbai (All passports, copy of I-797, photo, FIR, I'd lost a previous passport) - make sure you provide any additional documentation you think will help your case without going overboard

August 2 - Case Created

August 3 - Case Created

August 6 (Mon) - Admin Processing (in the afternoon)

August 7 (Tuesday) - Issued (Morning)

I picked up my passport later that afternoon. So it took only 4 business days to complete the process. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous but my hope is that people reading this realise you will get your visa stamped, even if it takes a little longer.
