H1b Experience at Kolkata
Day 1 -

Date - 04/27/2014

Went to the Kolkata OFC for Biometrics. My appointment was at 14:30 Hours. There was not much of a queue. They took a picture and aced for my fingerprints.

After that, they advised me to reach 15 minutes before my interview timing.

Day 2 -

Date - 04/28/2014

My interview timing was 8:30 AM. I reached consulate around 7:45 AM. I was among the few other candidates who were first in the queue for that day.

As soon as I entered the consulate there was a guy who checked my documents to make sure, there is no sealed envelopes in my bag. They also asked me for any electronic devices (a big list which contains all the electronic gadgets). After that verification they asked me to go a room and wait for my turn.

In that room, there were few other candidates waiting. A lady came up and gave me a token and called me. She asked me for my passport, I 129 docs, LCA and I797. Then she checked all those documents and stapled them together and gave me back and asked me to go to next room.

In the next room, there were several windows, starting from window 1 to window 7. As soon as I entered the room, a guy came to me and asked to stand in a queue and go to window 1. I went to window 1 where there was an Indian guy who asked for the bundled docs (created by lady in other room). He checked my documents and gave back the documents with a pink paper and a new token number. On pink paper, the steps were mentioned to check the passport status.

Once I got the clearance from window 1, the guy asked me to sit in first line and wait for my call. My number came and I was asked to go to window 2. This time there was an indian lady. She asked me for few basic questions and was doing something on the system. She asked me few details about my employer like Employer Name, number of employees, since how long I am with My Employer etc etc. After that she asked me to wait again for my call for final interview.

I went back and sat in second line to wait for my turn for final interview with US consulate.

After 10 minutes, my number got displayed in the screen and I was asked to go to window 7. I went to the window and stood behind the yellow line. As soon as the interview of the previous person got over, consulate asked me to come in. Below is the conversation -

Consulate - Hi.. Good Morning.

Me - Good Morning.

Consulate - So, you moved from YYYY (old company) to YYY (new company)?

Consulate - How many employees does your YYY company have?

Me - YYY company have around *** employees.

Consulate - Can i have your last year 2013 W2?
