H1B Interview - Ottawa
Hi guys,

I got my visa approved last Friday, Feb 17th at Ottawa Embassy.
It was short and straight forward, the VO asked for client letter and how long I had been working with the client. I gave client letter and VO told me my visa is approved and I can collect my passport in 3-4 business days.

One minor point, VO kept only my most recent passport, gave back my old passports and I-797, which is a little different from my previous experiences.

Since Monday was a holiday the status online didn't change (it showed "Administrative Processing") until Tuesday noon, I received an email with Canada Post tracking number from usvisa-info at around noon on Tues (around same time status on ceac.state.gov changed to "Issued") and another email from Canada Post around 3 with expected delivery for Wednesday. I collected my passport at 4ish on Wed after I received an email from Canada Post at 3pm.

Overall, it was a good experience, crossing border back to US was uneventful as well (it took around 10-15min to get my new paper I-94 after finger printing at secondary inspection).

Recently there have been a lot of unsubstantiated rumors floating around, somebody here claimed that there are lot of rejections and those folks are not posting their experience - I don't know what was the basis of that claim but I think a lot depends on individual case, company's reputation and company-client relationship if you are deputed at a client location.

As far as my personal experience is concerned, it was similar to my previous three interviews in India - short and straightforward.

Thanks everyone who posted their experience here, it helps to have some facts among all the noise :)
