H1B visa experience
This was in May 2016 - I know this is long overdue, my apologies for the very late post but I hope this helps those attending their H-1B visa interview. Good luck!

My Visa officer was very curt, never smiled, rejected the visa application of the guy ahead of me (but this person had submitted some fake documents, and his highest degree of education was high school). When it was my turn he asked me the following questions -
1. Where was I working - I work for a semiconductor company, and when I mentioned the name, he said he never heard of it.
2. Asked me how many employees were employed by the company - I said around 10,000, he was very surprised - and I wasn't lying.
3. My job title
4. My annual pay
5. What my job duties involve
6. Asked me if I pursued my Master's in the United States - I said yes and mentioned the university I got my degree from
7. My Father's occupation and income - this was a very unusual question but I guess he asked me this because I went to a private university which is known for its high fees.

These were the questions I was asked - nothing unusual - the very typical questions asked for H-1B such as employer, title, pay, job duties etc.

I was thankfully granted a visa, they held onto my passport. It was ready for pick-up after 2 days.

Wish I had posted this experience earlier, but from what I hear from my friends who attended their visa interviews recently, these questions are still relevant.

I wish the best for everyone attending theirs, and hope it goes well and hassle-free.
