H1B Visa Guide
Hey all,

This site is great stuff especially for those who are facing the interview for the first time. Either way, I have prepared a checklist containing the most common questions asked and if the visa is refused under 221(g), what all could be asked for by the officer.

My experience was a good one, I got my H1B stamped recently at Mumbai. As most of the other people who have told, we need to be confident and answer to the point and not beat around the bush. Look in the eyes with a smile on your face.

1. How did u know about this company? How did you get this job

2. Who owns the company?

3. Where is the company in us?

4. How many people work for this company? / How big is it?

5. What does it do? What are main activities/ areas of expertise of the company which is processed you H1B?

6. Who are the clients for this company?

7. When was your company established?

8. What is your designation? / What are you going to do for this company?

9. Which client are you going to work for? / Location ( Very Important question )

10. Where would you stay?

11. Is your company a contracting company? / Is this a Software Consulting firm?

12. How big is the company in US?

13. What is your company's Annual Return?

14. How many h1b’s your employer is going to fill for the next 12 months?

15. How long are you going to stay in the U.S?

16. Who interviewed you?

Most important question, almost always asked.
Why Do You Want To Go To U.S ?

Worst case scenario: Visa refusal - 221(g)
-------------------------------------------

Under this circumstance the consulate would ask the visa seeker for the following.

 W2 forms of other employees at your current U.S Company.

 Lease for U. S. Company.

 Tax Returns for past 3 years for U. S. Company.

 A list of all candidates petitioned by the petitioning entity in the mumbai consulate, the exact times in which they joined and worked (including the date of departure if no longer with that entity) and their current whereabouts.

 A list of all of the employer’s active projects. Indicate who is the client and point of contact at the client end with phone numbers and email for that person(s). If the contract with the client is held by a third party, provide names and contact information for that party as well. Do not send a batch of contracts in lieu of this documentary requirement.

 Provide a detailed and specific account of how the H/L worker will be employed during the next 12 months. Be sure to specify location, client, and client contact information, nature of the project and duration of the project. (Visa officer underlines these words - location, client & client contact information).

 Interior and exterior photos (15) of the petitioning employer's work premises and of the work premises where the H/L worker is/will be deployed to be provided by employer (Visa officer specifically wrote - Include client site).

Guess thats all people. But I do request everyone to keep updating this site with their experiences. You would be helping in making careers - U never know!

Cheers!
Ace.
