Here I am presenting my experience for your convenience to bring your wife to USA.


Required Documents:

1. Your wife Original Passport
2. Web appointment pages
3. Three Bank Drafts (Rs:4400/-,2200/- and 441/-)
4. Your wife Passport size photographs (50mmx50mm)(One is enough, but better to take 4 copies)
5. DS ¡V 156 form (Better to fill through online)
6. DS ¡V 157 form (Not required for female applicants at Chennai consulate, any way better fill this also)
7. Xerox copy of your wife passport ( only First page, address page and last page)
8. Employment continue letter from your employer ( Original)
9. Your Employment Offer letter ( Original)
10. Your I-797 form (Original or Notarized)
11. I -129 ( all pages, Xerox)
12. LCA ( all pages, Xerox)
13. Your Passport Xerox copies(Better to take color )(if you have tax forms and w2 forms send them also)
14. Your Pay slips ( Original or Notarized)
15. Your I ¡V 94 ( Xerox)
16. Your SSN card ( Xerox)
17. Your Driving License ( Xerox)
18. Your Bank statement (Original, Better to take detailed transaction report)
19. Marriage certificate ( Original)
20. Wedding invitation cards ( Originals, One from your side and one from your wife side)
21. Wedding photographs ( minimum 30 good photos)
22. All your wife academic certificates ( ¡§10th, Intermediate and Degree ¡§ only original certificates)
23. Your work experience letters (Xerox)
24. If your wife has any property then takes those documents(Original)(Not compulsory)
25. If your wife has any running bank account then takes that bank statement.


Note: Take one copy of Xerox for all above documents (except passport photographs, wedding invitations and wedding photographs).

1.Suppose,If your wife attending an interview to Calcutta or Delhi instead of Chennai(If your wife from Chennai region)
„« Why did you come here, Instead of Chennai?
„« Madam/Sir, Due to heavy summer rush I did not get an early appointment in Chennai. Really I am very lucky to get an appointment here; because, I grandly wait to meet my husband as soon as possible.
2.You can adjust dates and reason
„« Why there is a 15 days gap for first pay check?
„« Yes, there are 2 weeks gap, because his job started after only receipt of SSN card (Social Security Number).He got his SSN after 2 weeks he arrived in USA.
o (If he ask this question just show them SSN card and SSN papers)
3.If your wife applying a visa after you came here, then give a appropriate reason
„« Why you had not applied before?
I got my passport on March 2005 only.

„« When did you get married?
We have got married on xxxx, at my home town with presence of all our family and friends and we registered our marriage on xxxx. ( If he ask this question just show them Wedding Invitations and Marriage certificate)
„« In which company your husband is working?
He is working in xxxxx, as a Software Engineer.
„« How he got the job in xxxx?
One of his friends referred him .
„« When he got the job?
He got a job on xxx of this year.
„« What type of company it is? Or In which he is working?
It is a Software company.
„« What is your husband total IT exp?
He has 5 years of IT experience. Before he had worked in xxxx in xxxxx
„« Which place your going to USA?
I am going to xxx city, xxx State, where my husband is staying.

From last xxx years

Steps at Calcutta Consulate:


1. First you have to show web appointment pages with Original passport at Consulate entrance, then they will verify your web appoint, Passport and your face with Photo in passport.
2. Security Check: They will check your hand bag, files and etc¡K
(Better don¡¦t take hand bags and unnecessary items except documentation)
3. you have to hand over Rs.441/- D.D to T.T. Services then they will give you receipt.
4. you have to go to one hall, One attender will come to your place and collect compulsory documents from you. you have to submit Other two D.Ds with him/her only. Then she/he will give you a token. She/He will put your documents in a rack at interview counters.
5. you have to wait until your number comes up. Attender will call you with your token number.
6. you have to go to the interview counter and you should give your finger prints(index finger) and then questions.
7. If you are eligible then they will tell you that ¡§You will get a visa within two days¡¨.(They will take your Passport,DS-156 , DS-157 form and D.D 2200/-).


Steps at Chennai Consulate:

1. First you have to show web appointment pages with Original passport at Consulate entrance, then they will verify your web appoint, Passport and your face with Photo in passport.
2. Security Check: They will check your hand bag, files and etc¡K
3. (Better don¡¦t take hand bags and unnecessary items except documentation)
4. you have to hand over Rs.441/- D.D to T.T. Services then they will give you receipt.
5. You have to go One counter and then she/he will ask you type of visa and then she will collect D.D 4400/- from you.
6. Go to next counter(there are 4 to 5 counters, attender will help you),then they will collect all required documents from you and then they will put those documents into one folder and then they will hand over that file to you back.
7. Go to next building(attenders will guide you).
8. you have to go to one hall, One attender will come to your place and assign number to you.
9. You have to wait until our number comes up. Attender will call you with your token number.
10. you have to go to the interview counter and you should give your finger prints(index finger) and then questions.
11. If you are eligible then they will tell you that ¡§Go and pay fee at counter 1¡¨
      (They will take your Passport, DS-156 ) and remaining documents they will give you back.
