HELP!!!
Hello guys, I have an issue. I am married to a US Citizen but about 8 months after the marriage he started being verbally and emotionally abusive to me, even physically abusive on three different occasions. I've never called the police due to the physical abuse because I don't want them to arrest him because his 23 year old daughter also lives with us and I don't want to get blamed if in fact he is arrested. In regards to the abuse, it is not that severe, he would just slap me or pinch my skin until there's a black or red mark appear on my skin. At one time it was bruised for one week.

This started affecting me. I have come to realize that I would have suicidal thoughts, thoughts of cutting my wrist with a razor blade and just lay there and bleed to death. I went to see a psychologist because I realized that I would have outburst when I remember all things that my husband said and did to me. The psychologist diagnosed me with depression and anxiety and said that my husband is abusive- abuse is abuse. She also want to put me on medication for depression. I have a 9 year old child- not with my husband, now he came to the U.S on a visitors visa but the issue is he doesn't want to go back to my originally country; instead, he said that he want to stay with me. A few days ago my husband locked me and my child out of our room, me and my child have to sleep on the couch in the living room.

Now, in regards to my son, do you think that I can file to adjust his status myself using the i130 and 1485; hence, submitting both of the applications at the same time? I am definitely considering to hire a lawyer for this and even for myself just in case my husband don't want to sign the documents to terminate the condition on my green card. I have a 2 year conditional green card that will expire in the middle of next year.

Please help me with advice, does anyone have any suggestion in regards to this? I would greatly appreciate it. And does anyone know a good lawyer that is not too expensive that I can hire to help me with filing for my son and also to help me get my 10 years green card? Please help me. I'm so stressed out! Has anyone went through something similar as me?
