I-485 interview 10/7/2020
Dear all,

Since I’ve gained so much useful information through this forum, I hope my experience would somehow help the rest as well.
NBC, Manhattan, NYC, Federal Plaza
I-485, marriage based, married to US citizen
Previous visa : F1–>J1–>H1B

PD : 7/29/2019
First EAD/AP combo : 11/04/2019
Renewed EAD/AP : 9/5/2020
Interview scheduled : 10/7/2020

We went to the building around 11.50am (our appointment was at 12.05). We were called in around 12.30pm. The officer seemed friendly and nice but was rushing a little bit. We didn’t even take an oath. Haha
.
Questions he asked my husband :
How did you guys meet?
What’s her occupation now?
What was her job when you guys met?
She seems to have a busy job. How did you guys manage to date?
What kind of job she’s doing - like more specific.
What was she doing before that?
Have you met her parents?

Questions to me:
Where’s your in law from?
How many people in your team (job)?
What exactly do you do now?
Are you still on H1B visa?
When did you guys get married?
Security questions from I-485

Our lawyer didn’t submit our bonafide during the first submission. He said we can give it during interview.

Our officer did not ask for any bonafide except 2019 joint tax IRS report (which we gave).
He didn’t look at our lease, insurance, beneficiaries stuff, utilities bills, photos.. none of it. I brought 3 big folders ready to submit it but he didn’t ask.

He said he approved it, he stamped on something and then he said because we haven’t been married for 2 years, I’ll get my conditional GC. And he said expect the green card soon and we’ve been approved. He also said that I can tell my job that not to worry and I got my GC.

The online status still “interview scheduled”. So.. I don’t know. It was a quick 15min interview. That’s it. I’m somehow nervous but I don’t think an officer will say he approves it but suddenly withdraw the approval.. right? But I guess anything can happen.

Anyway, hope it helps. Best of luck everyone!!
