i-485 Interview in NYC
Time: 7.00am
 
Called in for interview at 7.45
 
We went with out Attorney
 
Interviewing officer (IO) was very professional
He looked straight in the eye.
Absolutely no emotions on the face
He seemed like he was mentioned to stay angry all throught the intreview process.
 
Asked us to take OATH.
 
Questions :

What is your date of birth (please provide copies of Birth Certificates)
 
What is your spouses date of birth
 
Where was he/she born
 
What are his/her parents name
 
What are your occupations
 
Why are you not wearing a wedding band (i have an accident on my hand so cant wear a ring) wife has arthritis so cant wear it either
 
Where did you meet
 
When did u meet
 
How did you get introduced to each other
 
Who proposed first
 
Where did you propose him/her
 
What was the exact date of proposal
 
Why did you marry him/her
 
Where did him/her live before marriage (please give me exact address - which he checks in the file) - Why did you say the apt no wrong (she answered that I always visited her so it was a mistake) - He looked angry
 
Why did I got meet her all the time (since her mother was very strict)
 
When did you meet her parents
 
What are her parents names
 
What are his parents names

What are the locations you have travelled together (I answered only local) he asked WHY ? I said it never happned that we had to travel together away.
 
When do you want to take her to your home country? - I said yes and that she needs to meet my parents
 
Do you plan on having babies (we said we are working on it) and she also had a medical condition
 
He asked me standard questions on i-485 printed at the back and all I had to say is NO to all of them
 
He stood up and held the file in hands
 
Told us very angrily (you will hear the decision in 60 days)
 
No Decision as of now.
 
The interview took 15 mins for all these questions
 
Interviewer was very sharp and built up questions on our answers
 
Questions like these scare legit marrieges like ours as well (wonder when they will soften)
 
We are pretty much the same age, make good money, look good together, live together..
Wonder why such a big scene in Federal Plaza.
 
I got an email the next day about card production (no mail yet) hopefully its a conditional gc for 2 years since we were married for 11 months until the interview
 
I am stil on my h1b which ends in 2013
