I-485 Processing Time and FDNS Referral
I think I just received the most disheartening news about my case. The processing times at the USCIS San Bernardino Field Office handling my case doubled from 8 to 14 months to 8 to 30 months.

I filed my marriage-based AOS in April 2019 and attended the interview with my wife in August 2019 and have been waiting for a decision since. I got excited when my case went outside normal processing times last month hoping USCIS would decide my case expeditiously. That went out the door.

Not only that, but a USCIS representative I spoke to over the phone today was forthcoming enough to tell me that an FDNS (Fraud Security and National Security Directorate) referral was made on my case. In other words, USCIS likely believes my marriage is a sham.

To those whose cases have been pending background checks for a while, keep prying for info or notes from different USCIS call center representatives like I did. That background check update might just be a ruse. At least I finally know why my case has been delayed.

Next stop, mandamus.
