I485 AOS Experience, Interview SLC UT
Hello Friends, This group and forum has been a great help. I'm going to be as detailed as much as I can. FO SLC(UT) AOS Marriage based. We're gay couple and we have quite a age difference gap. I arrived in B2 in November 2018. Married in June 2019. Applied in August 2019. I did work without authorization as well and declared it on my forms.

Here's the time line and experience

08/05 Priority date
08/13 NOA and receipt notice for all application

12/17 USCIS received response
12/26- Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview
12/27- Interview was Scheduled
01/04, received interview notice for 02/03

0n 01/02, I expedited my EAD, I received response from them on 01/03, I faxed the documents on the same day, but status changed on 01/10, stating they received additional information. **** *PLEASE KEEP IN MIND IFYOU HAVE RECEIVED THE INTERVIEW NOTICE, DO NOT EXPEDITE, IT JUST DELAYS YOUR PROCESSING FOR EAD **** *** Anyway my expedited request was never approved but

01/23 New card is being produced (EAD)
01/31 EAD in hand
02/03, Interview, did not approve on spot but said we'll hear back in a week or a week and half and officer explained about how to remove conditions and apply for citizenship.

Interview Experience,

It was a stormy day on 02/03, Office hours were delayed and they opened at 09 am instead on 07:00 am. My appointment was at 09:45 am. We got there at 09:50 am. We weren't worried as our attorney informed us do not worry, It will get delayed today.

We walked in at 10:00, waited for our attorney, he got there at 10:10 am. I checked in for my appointment, they will take your fingerprint and photograph again. We waited for 10 minutes and got called in.

Officer was pretty nice, polite and had calming appearance, our attorney said he is the one who interviewed my attorney's client a week ago before ours.

Anyway, got it, Officer swore us in and asked me questions like

My name, DOB, Address, Phone #, Place of Birth, He asked me about working without authorization and asked more questions on that, like how I was able to get work, how i was getting paid, what documents they asked and I gave honest response. Do not worry if you worked without auth, it's forgiven if you're married to USC. He also asked if I'm working currently, I said no. Later he asked about 50-60 security question Y/N responses. and when he got done, he just asked me to sign on I485 form where applicant has to sign on the interview date and he told me, you understand you're under oath and you're giving true and honest information and then

To both of us,
How we met?
What genre movies we like?
What we like to do for fun?
What are our plans in next five years
To my husband- If he has met any of my family and what his family has to say about our age difference and That's it.

When we responded we were very communicative and we both responded adding to each other final statement.
He later asked for what documents we have to add, and we gave our Las Vegas and NY vacation trip reports. A few of affidavits from friends and family, most recent bank a/c statements, copies of debit card from same bank a/c. Since my husband added me on house, we had property tax notice on both of our name so we submitted that.

He asked if we have any more pictures and he went through all three photo books that we had, each and every page and took about 12 pictures after taking our permission asking if it's okay for him to take and if we have it stored digitally. We allowed him to take some. It wasn't an issue.

And that's it, he said okay, I'm have to review your background check and criminal records again and you will hear back from me within a week or a week and a half and went on explaining about removing conditions and how I can apply for citizenship after three years. My attorney told me these officers are new-hires and they generally say they will review but you should hear today or tomorrow.

We got back home and at 03:30 pm same day "New Card is being Produced"
02/04, I130 and I485 approved
02/07, Got approval notice
02/09 Got green card.

So this was it, hope it helps to all of you guys waiting and hope it works out well for you guys. I know it's frustrating to wait and I've been there trust me it is very frustrating and to keep your calm and patience gets difficult. But god will hear your prayers. Hope you all get quick responses.

Good Luck to all of you!! Got Bless you all, Amen!!
