Hi guys, my GC is work based through my employer.

My lawyer attended my interview with me as she had done all of my paperwork. She thought my interview went pretty well, the usual questions, when did you come to the states, how did you meet your employer, have you ever overstayed, have you work illegally etc. She asked for a copy of my lease for my apartment which we obviously did not have with me, and something that my lawyer had found weird, and also asked for a copy of my most recent tax return which we did not have as it was not on the interview notice of things to bring with us. The IO did take a my paystubs for the last 2 months, and also a copy of a current letter from my employer.

Just after I took the oath, the IO did say that my visa was current and their will be a visa number available for me, and also said that they can take up to 120 days to make a decision. It has now been 8 weeks and I haven't heard anything, they haven't even updated my case online to 'interview completed.' My lawyer was able to give the IO a copy of my lease and tax return 2 weeks later, but we still haven't had an update. My friend who filed everything at the same time as me with a different employer had his interview 4 weeks later in the same office and his case was updated to 'Interview Completed, case must be reviewed'.

I came here on a J1 visa and found an employer to sponsor me, I have never overstayed on any of my vias, and have never worked illegally, pretty straight forward case, or so I thought.

Is anyone in the same boat as me, or has had a similar experience and able to shed some light? That office isn't currently accepting infopass appointments so I can't even go to find out any information.

Thanks!
