My mom was the one being interviewed and the initial apointment was scheduled with the help of a travel agent. He selected the language of communication as english and my mother could just manage to speak, though she is not very fluent. But as soon as she entered the consulate, a gentleman asked her if she needed a translator and she accepted his help.
