IO was young gentleman. Most questions he asked were things from the applications.
Asked my husband (US Citizen):
-His birth certificate or passport to proof he's US citizen
-His driver's license
-His full legal name, any other name you go by?
-His birthdate
-His address, previous address, did we live together before and when did you start living together
-What is your wife's name and what is her birthday? Where does your wife work at
-When did you guys get married, do you guys have any kids?
-Where did you guys meet
-When did you guys first met each other, Give me exact date
-When did you start going out? Give me exact date
-Have you guys leave each other during relationship
Then he asked me:
-My driver's license.
-My original passport I used to enter the country (with i94) & birth certificate
-My full legal name, any other name you go by?
-My birthdate
-My address, what is your husband's full legal name and what is his birthdate?
-Where do you work at?
and he moved onto 'Have you ever..'stuff
When I filled out the applications, I left some areas blank because they didn't apply to me and IO said i should put 'N/A' or '0' (if asking for #s). IO updated the blank spaces. So he made me sign last page of application to agree that the IO made changes on behalf of me.
Then the IO asked if we had any evidence to show him,
We gave him the following:
-Marrige certificate
-Checking account statement for 4 months
-Savings account statement for 4 months
-House deed
-Apartment lease
-Proof of car insurance
-Home insurance papers
-2 Health insurance cards (1 of mine, 1 of my husband's)
-2 Credit cards with same # (1 of mine, 1 of my husband's)
-Voided check
-Cards & letters my husband wrote to me for valentine's day, birthday, anniversary day, etc
-Photo album with 60 photos
He took the house deed, made copies of 2 credit cards, photo album, insurance cards, voided check.
We left the office at 9am. Interview took about 30 mins.
After 5 hrs, website status changed to 'New card is being produced..'
It took us 11 months total. We filed without a lawyer so we saved alot of money.(I was DACA married to US citizen)
Remember that the petitioner will be asked questions, not the beneficiary.
For our case, it was me who filled out the application so i was really worried my husband will answer some of the questions wrong. Thankfully he did not.
If your case is not complicated and you speak good english, you don't need a lawyer.
Good luck to everyone and let me know if you have any questions,
