L-1B initial stamping - Ottawa - 221g
Consulate: Ottawa, Canada
Visa type: L-1B blanket initial stamping
Citizenship: India

Interview:

Counter before visa interview:
* Documents given: my passport, form G-28, two copies of I-129S, two copies of a supporting letter, DS-160 confirmation page, a photo, original Canadian work permit.
* The officer asked if I had the fraud prevention USD 500 fee with me. I had a money order and presented that to her.
* She arranged the docs and gave it to me.
* She told me that in the next counter will be the actual visa interview
* She told that there’s usually a cashier who takes the money order and would give me a receipt but this day the cashier wasn’t present (if I recollect correctly, she mentioned that they were short staffed due to covid) so they won’t be able to cash the money order in and because of that, they won’t be giving one copy of I-129S back after the interview like they usually do and instead I’ll get it back along with my passport.
* She mentioned to make sure that I give the money order to the visa officer in the next counter without fail.

Visa interview:
* The officer took the docs that the previous officer arranged in order and gave me.
* Documents given: my passport, form G-28, two copies of I-129S, two copies of a supporting letter, DS-160 confirmation page, a photo, original Canadian work permit
* The officer asked me a bunch of questions:
      1. Why are you going to the US?
      2. What do you do?
      3. What’s your highest level of education? (I have a Master's in Computer Science)
      4. What’s the difference between the work you did in Canada and what you’ll be doing in the US?
      5. How long have you worked for your company?
      6. How long in Canada?
      7. Which visa did you work in the US previously? (I worked on F1 OPT and OPT STEM)
* The officer asked for the USD 500 money order and I gave it
* The officer typed away something into their computer and sifted through my docs and told me that they need some more time to process the application and that they’ll let me know in a few days. They said they didn't need anything else from me.
* They gave me a 221g yellow slip and told me they’ll hold onto my docs (passport, I-129S, supporting letter, G-28, money order, photo)
* The officer returned my original Canadian work permit.
* I thanked the officer and left

They didn't ask to see any additional information. The officer didn't even request to see my transcripts/diploma. The 221g yellow slip has "Please wait for us to contact you" marked.

Any idea why the 221g might have been issued? Computer Science isn't a TAL field right?
Did anyone else go through a 221g in Ottawa?
