LOST. Torn, feeling helpless.
Still waiting on a reply from USCIS regarding my I-485. Interview was completed May 9, 2018.
However, I have a situation that I don't know how to handle. My husband has been lying to me all along, he told me he use to fight a lot and he was charged for assault and actually spent 10 years in prison long ago.
However he has found himself in trouble with the law once more, could be facing prison time. He told my that they were suspending his license but he kept getting court dates, which I found weird. Upon doing my research of the court records I fell to my knees. My husband has a lengthy past record (burglary, felonious assault, kidnapping, robbery, illegal firearm) He was lying to me all this time, I feel as if I don't know him. He has been verbally abusive for some time now and I have held out, I considered filing vawa but I honestly can't afford another lawyer right now.
How do I go from here, I'm so lost. My current lawyer advised me to be patient or go ahead and file vawa. But be patient for what, how do I continue without him, what do I tell immigration if he does get convicted? Will I even qualify for vawa if he is imprisoned? This is just too much right now, I feel as though the man I married was taken and evil took over his body.
