Medical Emergency - Need inputs
Hi All,
My parents came to US Sep 06 2007, and on Sep 08 my dad has grand mall seizure with very high BP levels. I called 911 and he was admitted to nearest Kaiser Permanante facility.
The travelers insurance is from Reliance General Insurance from India. Now the point is, I thought of getting about 45 days of insurance from india and then find a good option in the US, but unfortunately my dad was hospitalized in ICU just the second day.
The hospitalization would be around $35000 + medicine expenses until ran out of the India insurance limit. After that no point of new local insurance for that illness as it is a precondition and there are almost $5000 bills after that.
The chances are Reliance will try to escape by making some stories and all comes on me/us ....
2 questions I have:
1. How to get financial assistance or help or waiver in all these huge bills ?
2. Since I may end up paying most of the cost, how do I get benefits in income tax returns in the USA ??? It seems US government supports all illegal mexicans to the fullest extent in tax exemptions but we Indians do not get that benefit.
Is there a way ?
These questions may be valid for all indians in the USA .... so please ALL Experts, please do something to help us.
