Merida, Mexico
I attended a H1B visa renewal interview in Merida, Mexico right after the Fourth. Heres the process.

I came here a couple days earlier because in Mexico, you need to go have your photo taken an ASC (application service center) before the actual interview. I stayed at Hotel Mirador (where people are so nice and accomodating, and its a pretty nice hotel).

I then went to the interview. This time i stayed at IBIS which is a really nice hotel. I stayed at IBIS in Tokyo when i traveled there. The interview went well. I was asked a couple routine questions, like how long you ve been in US, where do you work, which firm, did you go to school in america, where are you from in china, is this your first time in mexico. He's pretty nice and asked me when im leaving the country. after a while, he put my passport in the urgent case pile and told me i should be able to pick up my passport here tomorrow after 4 with this slip. if not tomorrow, it should be wednesday.

As i had a valid visa prior to coming to Mexico, i didnt have to get a separate mexican tourist visa. In general, i LOVE mexico or maybe more specific MERIDA. People here are so nice and are so willing to go out of their way to help me out. Love them. Tried to speak in Spanish as much as i can but that didnt pan out as my spanish is really bad. As most TNC (third nation citizen) go to canada for stamping (as its closer to US), i highly recommend mexico. people are so nice, things in general are cheaper, beaches are awesome, so easy to make friends here!
