My Biometric and Visa interview process
Biometric Process:
I have my H1 B visa filled by my company. I have submitted my documents to my company's immigration team and they filled all the details. Finally, August 6th 2014 is my biometric and 7th Aug 2014 is my visa interview. My slot on Aug 6th is at 4:00 PM for biometric. Documents verified were Appointment letter, DS 160, original passport.
As I am a newbie, I took all my complete documents. I also took my photograph with me thinking that I have to stick it on DS 160, but no one asked me about my photograph. Security Guard verified my appointment letter and allowed me to go in. At the door step, they again checked my passport (original; xerox not allowed here), appointment letter and asked me to go in.
After few mins they called my number and I am placed infornt of a lady. She checked my passport, DS 160 and appointment letter.
Officer: What is your full name?
Me: Gave my full name.
Officer: what is the purpose of my visit?
Me: For my Employment madam. (madam not needed, but I said)
Now she asked me to place my left hand four fingers on the biometric device. Once it is done, right hand 4 fingers, then two thumbs.
Thats it!! she stamped my docs and asked me to carry the same docs to my visa interview.
Visa Interview Process:
Finally the most awaiting day has come. Aug 7th 2014, my visa interview day. I took all my documents, DS 160, I 129, my educational documents, originals, etc.. List of docs depends on what kind of visa you are applying for. So, I didnt update my list here. My slot is at 11:00 AM. I reached Hyd US Visa consulate by 9:00 AM. Thiking of traffic, car parking etc, i went very early. By 10:00 AM they allowed me in. We need to stand in line at the consulate office. Security person checks our passport, and scans a label on it(you will get this label at the time of your Biometric process). You will be sent in and have to wait in the lobby. Next, you will go to reception and get a sticker(token number) on your passport. Now, you have to place all your belongings in a tray and go for scanning. Please check on the internet about what items are allowed and what not. Next, we will be placed in a row of seats where your number and window number are displayed. Check your number and when you hear it, check the window number and go to that window.
My Interview:
My visa interviewer is a foreigner. She was talking very freely with everyone.
Visa Officer: Hi
Me: Hi
She didnt ask anything. I gave my passport. She took my passport and checked something on her system.
VO: Is this a new job
Me: Yes
VO: Is this your first time
Me: Yes
VO: What is your client?
Me: Client name
VO: Place your left hand fingers on the scanner
Me: Did it
VO: Where is your client located?
Me: I gave my client's area name which is in my I 129(My visa is H1 B). In my DS 160, different address was mentioned. So, check thoroughly your addresses mentioned in your documentation.
VO: Thanks you are done. You may leave. (she took my passport and kept it in a tray on the next table)
Me: Did I, Did I..
VO: Yes you cleared.
Me: Thanks a lot.. you made my day. Thanks.
None of my documents are checked(originals or xerox nothing). But remember, your DS 160 and I 129 will be with VO already.
If you are going to a client from a company, better be thorough on your I 129 addresses(Based on my experience I gave this statement).
