I arrived to USCIS at 9:25, my interview was scheduled at 10:20. There was no line at all and I went to check in right away, but lady at front desk said that I arrived to early and I need to wait in the waiting area and she will call by my scheduled time. By the time I just set down in the waiting area, in 2 minutes my time was called and I checked-in and received my number. We went to another bigger waiting area where they called us by the number to take a photo and fingerprints. After that I waited about 5 minutes and I was called by the officer around 9:40.
She started from oath to tell the truth, English and civics. We moved on to the application. Initially, I wanted to change my name, but since reading the forum that this my cause a delay, plus I want to attend an administrative ceremony instead of judicial ceremony, I asked officer to correct my answer and leave my name as it is. We moved to employment, schools and addresses, which I memorized all the dates, addresses, zipcodes, travel dates, etc from my application just in case. For my relief she was reading them all herself from the computer to confirm them. After all the corrections/additions I made, we moved on to yes/no questions. One of the question she asked was if I ever have been arrested/stopped/cited by any law or immigration officer…… (I was prepared to say YES, meaning my traffic tickets, note I have quite a lot of them and I did NOT mention them in application, but she continued…) …except the traffic tickets. I specified if except the traffic tickets, then NO. Then we continued with yes/no question that I was kept repeating no, no, no and almost automatically said no when she already got to last part of “supporting constitution, bear arm, etc.), but I asked to repeat the question and continued with my yes, yes, yes answers. Note I got my GC through asylum, and she hasn’t asked not a single question about it.
After that, she made me sign some stuff, my corrections, and info as it will look like on the naturalization certificate. She told me that I passed civics and English, and I am recommended for approval. She said that there is an open date to take an oath on August 25, but she doesn’t know a specific time yet. She told me to wait outside and that a different officer will call me by a name and handle an oath ceremony notice with date and time. So, I was out of my interview around 10:05 am (even though my interview was scheduled at 10:20).
I waited about an hour, got my notice, and was good to go.
Today I checked my USCIS online account and noticed that yesterday my first oath ceremony note was scheduled to the same day of the interview at 10:30, then de-scheduled, and scheduled again for August 25.
So, I will officially become a citizen of United States in 2 weeks.
For now, just want to say thank you for all of you sharing your stories, advises and experiences. Good luck to you all! 😊
