Today my spouse and I had an info pass appointment at our local field office. Our PD is late November and our case is still waiting for an interview due to pending background/name check.
The officer told us that our case is still pending background/name check and we were told to wait and give it 30 more days like we were told last time in an info pass we had in June. We inquired and asked the officer if there was a way to have the interview before the background/name check is cleared but we were told there's no way that was possible and that they've never seen it done....however both my spouse and I know from reading these forums that it was indeed possible but we then asked the officer about a policy we came across on the official USCIS website concerning background/name checks on the providing link below stated for Question 3, Answer 3.
https://www.uscis.gov/archive/archive-news/questions-and-answers-background-check-policy-update
The policy stated that if you're passed 180 days and are out of processing time for the background/name check then your case can be adjudicated. When we told the officer this information they were dumbfounded because they never heard of such a thing and went onto the website to look it up themselves. By the grace of God at the same time, two other higher ranked officers had entered the area and our officer that was assisting us asked them about the 180 days and proceeded to explain the situation. The higher ranked officers agreed immediately we were way out of processing times and submitted to have our case brought to the local office to speed up the process and see what's going on and perhaps schedule an interview before the background/name check clears.
Has anyone came across a similar or same situation to where they were still pending for a clearance on their background/name check and were scheduled for an interview already? How long did it take for your interview to be scheduled since your priority date and if you had to have your case adjudicated how long did it take for your case to be transferred to your local office?
