Now a citizen
So I went for my interview last week, and now a citizen. I have been having this disturbing feeling to post my experience so it can encourage other people in the process. So I applied for citizenship July 2020 (military based) but I was on a 2 year temporary green card then that was supposed to expire in October last year. Prior to the citizenship application, I have been having problems with my wife, and despite me trying to make our marriage work, she filed for divorce in August and we got completely divorced in November. By then my temporary 2 years greencard was expired. In December I got an interview notice for January, then I was so down in the spirit because of the situation I was in (expired temporary greencard and now divorced). How do I explain to the interviewer?? What will happen??? The interview came, I took along the evidence I have and also the court summon for the divorce. We started the interview, i was asked if I was still married, I said no that I'm divorced, she asked what happened and I replied with a brief summary and showed her the court summon. She looked through and went to the civic test, I passed the 6 question and she went to the English test which I passed. Then she said I passed the interview and will approve my case. She asked if I will like to take my oath the same day or come on a later date, I hurriedly replied that I will wait lol. Few hours later I took the oath and I was given my certificate of Naturalization. I hope this will serve as a motivation to you all that are still in the process. I wish you all good luck because I know how the anxiety of the unknown can be. If you have any questions, let me know and I will reply. All the best. One love.
