NY Filer
It’s only fair that we give our story as my husband and I (USC) have been reading the forums silently for some time.

Timeline:

PD: 7/2019
Biometrics: 9/2019
EAD: 3/2020
Advanced Parole: 6/2020
Original interview date: 3/2020 (got cancelled because of COVID literally the day before our interview ☹) (was assigned to NYC field office)
Surprise interview letter: 9/2020 (Queens Field office)
New interview date: 9/29/2020

About interview: Our appointment was at 9am. There were very few couples, they were mainly doing citizenship appointments in the room we were in. We got called in at about 11:10am. IO officer wasn’t the friendliest at first. Very serious but towards the end after going through our pictures she started to warm up. We were sworn in and she took my husband’s picture and fingerprints.

She asked me (USC) the most questions. How we met? She wanted the entire story as she kept edging the story on. Asked if I ever met his parents. When was the last time I spoke to them? Where my husband works? What he does there? She asked if we had children.
She asked my husband where did I work? What my position was? She went through the applications and all the information. Asking him the yes or no questions that were on the application e.g planning to practice polygamy etc.

We moved upstate so she had to write our updated address on ALL of our paperwork. We apologized and She was ok with updating all that information thank goodness. She even made a joke that the amount of time she has written our address she won’t forget it.
At the end we got the white sheet that says our case is being held and a decision will be made in 30 days. We were nervous! The entire interview with the IO took about an hour and 15 mins. We kept checking the case status online but the last update was Feb 2020 Interview Scheduled. To our surprise yesterday 10/5 we got the approval notices in our mailbox! i130 and i485! We are sooooo happy. Online it still says Interview scheduled Feb 2020. We wish everyone the very very best!

Keep an eye out on your mailbox!
