OCI Application for Minor with VFS:
As there were a lot of questions and confusion regarding the New OCI process with VFS Global, I am sharing my experience of applying OCI for my minor daughter who is <5 years.
Not sure if it’s 100% correct, but I followed the below steps :)
1. Fill the online form. (https://ociservices.gov.in/ )
· The online application comprises of multiple parts. Once you submit Part A and move to Part B, you will not be able to go back and edit it. If there are any mistakes, you need to start a fresh application. So make sure you review each section before submitting.
· Upload Minor’s photo, signature copy (Right thumbprint for girls. Left for boys. We tried thumb print with Kajal as we didn’t have stamp pad. It was clear)
- Self-attested copies of all the supporting docs like address proof, visa, our passport etc.
List of docs self-attested and uploaded:
o Address proof- US Driver's license
o Proof of Indian origin- Child’s birth cert and parents’ passport copy (first 3 and last 2 pages)
o Legal status of parents – parents visa and passport copy
o Parents’ Marriage certificate copy
o Relationship cert- Child’s birth certificate
o Parent authorization form
· Parent authorization form needs to be notarized and uploaded.
· Once all the docs are uploaded, submit and generate the application. Review and print it!
2. Register with VFS (https://row1.vfsglobal.com/IHCUSPostalAppointment )
· Create a new application and enter the reference number you received while you generated the application form. (It will also be mentioned in the form)
· Fill the details and make payment online.
· Print the FedEx labels. 2 Labels are generated (To and Return).
3. Send out package with label generated after online payment. The package contained:
· Checklist
· Child's Passport
· Online Application Copy – Page3 Part B Declaration to be signed by parents, Thumbprint of child and also Notarized
· Photo 2x2 – 2 count
· All the Self attested documents copies- address proof, passport copy, visa copy, Marriage certificate
· Child’s original and copy of birth certificate
· Fedex Return Label
