In my experience, the initial submission process was frustrating. It took a week before I could ship the application. I wish they had a table of document categories for each OCI type and listed all the acceptable documents. The different numbers (temporary, web, receipt and oci) are bit confusing. This will help you to be prepared before starting the online application. It took a while to reduce the size of the scanned images and documents to upload. It is expected you have good knowledge on using computer applications, scanners and file size. If you are not that computer savvy, please get help from some one who can help you with that. Use a low quality scanner or change the setting to low quality when you scan the documents to fit to the file size requirements. If in doubt which document to upload or send, call the customer support number. They are very helpful, but be patient with them (just be nice and ask for the help you need). This is not an optimal process, but an ok process. I am amazed how fast they processed mine (based on my experience). You are doing most of the work; the outsourced company and govt are making sure the documents are correct. IMO lot of money goes for shipping, but is worth for the convenience from not driving to the city during work hours and paying for the parking. I strongly suggest choosing the prepaid shipping option.

Good luck to others submitting the OCI application.
