OCI in lieu PIO card - Deadline may change to DEC 2016
I submitted application for OCI in lieu PIO to all of us in the family (Naturalized US citizens and PIO card holders) today 20 JUNE 2016. Upon submission I asked the following questions to the CKGS officer.
1. What is the next step?
ANS: You will get notified (in 6-8 weeks) to submit the US passports. We will keep the passport for 7-8 days for verification.
2. What about the PIO card?
ANS: You can keep it as the JUNE 30 deadline is most likely to change to DEC 2016 timeframe, and you can use it if you plan to visit India.
3. What if I am in India, when you notify me to submit the Passports?
ANS: No problem!!. Come back after your vacation and finish the verification process. We will hold the OCI card for you.
