Application submitted to SFO consulate via VFS, for OCI renewal for minor (due to update of US passport)

OCI Application Status since March 19: UNDER-PROCESS
When I called up VFS, they said that usually it takes 2 weeks for OCI reissue applications, and that I should get in touch with Indian embassy at Washington DC to understand what's going on with my application. Unsurprisingly, no one picked up the phone at the Indian embassy. We need to travel to India ASAP to take care of our ailing parents.
Anyone in similar boat? Can folks share their experiences or provide suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks a lot!
