OCI still underprocess since December 2022

I have filled out an OCI application for my mother on December 26, 2022. As per the status enquiry, the application is still under process as of today, July 18, 2023. The application was sent through the Indian Embassy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I visited the embassy to inquire about the update, but they themselves had no information regarding why it is still under process.
Do you have any idea where I can follow up on the status of the application? Is there another way to inquire about why it has not progressed beyond the "Under Process" stage?
