OCI timeline NY CGI (2.5 months)
I wanted to post my experience with OCI card at NY CGI (via CKGS).
- I submitted my OCI application on 2-Sept-2015 at NY ckgs
- Exactly after 2 months the OCI card was printed in Delhi on 2 Nov 2015 (checked on govt india website)
- On 7 Nov 2015 OCI card reached NY CGI (CKGS website was not updated). I walked in to CKGS NY on 9th Nov 2015 and dropped by Passport for match-up (there was no update on CKGS website about matchup nor update that passport was dropped for matchup until following day - 10Nov)
- CKGS updated status on website on 10 nov 2015.
- Matchup completed and received email from CKGS to collect passport and OCI card on 12 Nov 2015.
- Collected passport and OCI card from CKGS NYC on 13 Nov 2015.
- Entire process took 2.5 months. There is no U sticker on passport now. It has been discontinued. Instead the last page (address page) of OCI card has additional remark "LIFE TIME VISA" printed just above father's name.
- Had a satisfactory experience with the entire process except the wait of 2.5 months.
