This website has been immensly helpful to get visitor visa for my parents. I am a graduate student and my parents were sponsoring themselves. I was slightly worried about their case as they dont pay income tax but still had more than sufficient money in bank accounts and way too much property for tax exempt couple that earns less than 1.5 lakhs per annum. I guess the key was in answering confidently, practicing what to say and what not to say. I had to coach my parents to be concise and accurate. All the questions listed on this website were a good starting point. Heres how the interview went: It was a hindi interview. My mom spoke in english but dad answerd in Hindi.
VO: why are you going to usa?
Mom: to meet my daughter and to see tourist places in ny and chicago
VO: what does your daughter do
Mom: <name of course>, <university name>
VO: why are you going after her graduation
Mom: she was busy earlier
VO: what is your profession (to my dad)
Dad: i am a <profession> with <firm>, which is a <kind of business>
VO: what will your daughter do after graduation?
MOm: she will work in <firm name>, in <city name>
VO: your Visa is approved.
My Mom worried about sharing my full time employment information but you got to be honest in these interviews. So stay confident, smile and answer confidently!
No papers were asked.Also, don't over prepare your parents for these interviews. Let them explain things in their style. Just provide them with the facts that they need to know.
