Visitor Visa - B2

Hi ,
My parents had been to the Mumbai embassy a week back.Thank God,they passed the interview!

put in their experiences here.

Questions asked by American officer:
1. Why do you want to visit USA?
Ans. To visit tourist attractions in USA and visit daughter and son-in-law.

2.What is your son-in-law doing?
Ans.(Explained job) .But my daughter is sponsoring the trip.

(Because I was the sponsor ,my parents had all my documents and only limited documents from my husband.So I had
explained to them that if they start asking husbands information,they should remind the officer that daughter is sponsoring the trip.I think officers usually assume that the son-in-law or son sponsors the trip).

3.Oh!So what is your daughter doing?
Ans. (Explained my job position)

4.What are you doing ?
Ans. (Dad Explained his job).

5.So ,have you been abroad before?
Ans. Yes , to so-and-so countries.

6.How long do you want to stay in US?
Ans. Dad could not understand the officers accent and mistook the question to be how long has your daughter been in the US.The officer then rephrased her question and fortunately my mother
understood the question and answered 3 months.This must be same as mentioned in visa application.

After this ,Officer said their application has been accepted.No documents were asked or checked.

My advice is to train parents well for the interview.Questions asked above are pretty standard. Also, first greet the officers. All documents mentioned on this site should be provided to parents.Even if for example,the son-in-law is sponsoring the trip ,parents should have passport copy and visa copy of the blood relative(daughter).
