Adjustment of Status - I-485

Hi everyone,

This is my first question in this group but I have been reading your experiences since I started my application.

So I have applied for Adjustment of Status because my husband is a US citizen. We were together for two years before I came here with a B1 visa and after staying with him for a few months he proposed and we decided to get married here instead of our home country. Which now I know it has been a big mistake, because I have been stuck here for two years and USCIS told me my case might take another year to be scheduled for the interview.

We filed in May 30, 2017.
Got my EAD in January 2018 (because of a mistake from my useless/expensive lawyer).
Made the mistake of not applying for the combo card/ travel document because I didn't think it would take this long.

We are based in Manhattan NY so our office is the Manhattan one. I keep calling USCIS because it has been a year since we applied but they tell me to check the processing times. They are currently processing cases from June 2016, which means we have to wait another year for the interview.

This is exhausting and I feel hopeless and stuck here, and it has had a huge impact on my marriage as well. I keep telling my husband that it would be better if we got married in our home country because I miss my family and I can't travel anywhere and they can't come and see me. I know it is not his fault and I said yes when he proposed but this is just too much.

Now, my questions are:

1. How do I apply for an EAD extension, what form do I use? because my current one will expire in January?
2. Is it worth it if I apply for my Travel Document now? Is it safe to use it?
