Question about I-485 Processing Office
Hi everyone, I have a very basic question on whether the processing time of I-485 is contingent upon the pertinent service center or local office.

[Current Status]
PD - Jan 2018 (Texas Service Center; I-140 and I-485 concurrent filing)
EAD - Apr 2018

When I checked the processing times of various forms at Texas Service Center, here are what I see at the moment.

* I-765: 3 to 5 months (actually processed within 3 months)
* I-140: 5.5 months to 7.5 months
* I-485: 9 months to 11.5 months (GC may be granted within this year in a sunny day scenario)

However, when I looked at Newark NJ (local filed office), the gloomy estimated time range for I-485 is 11 to 20.5 months.

Can someone please explain how an interview is scheduled and I-485 processed in general? Are those processes subject to the capacity of the original service center or local office? I fear that the interview backlog at the Newark office may prolong the interview scheduling to begin with. I would greatly appreciate anyone's sharing his or her experience/knowledge.

FYI, the USCIS website states the following: "If the “USCIS Office” is the National Benefits Center (NBC) and you have filed an employment-based or family-based Form I-485, Form N-400, or Form N-600, you should check processing times for your local field office." If this is the case, it sounds like the Service Center matters in the way of processing time.

Many thanks and good luck to all
