Received a green card today!!
Hello guys!
I just received my green card today and I would like to share my journey with you!

- New York Queens Filer
- PD: March 17, 2019
- Bio: April 22, 2019
- Received EAD: June 19 2019 (I had to contact Congresswoman to expedite..)
- Interview was initially scheduled for March 23rd but got cancelled due to COVID
- Rescheduled for August 10 2020
- Case approved: August 14 2020
- Card delivered: Sept 4th 2020

Please Be ready. They are rescheduling!! I received the notice on July 27 and didn't have enough time to prepare.. I only had 2 weeks to find all the new documents.

Interview was AWFUL. I still can't believe I got a green card!
Our officer was a Hispanic lady (I really love Hispanic people. they are so warm, sweet, and caring but my officer was heartless and very cold.)

She gave me a hard time for three reasons:

1. My mum's real birthday is different from my family certificate (It's not my fault. She was born before I was born. There's no internet in the 60s and my grandpa couldn't register my mom when she was just born)

2. Copy of my basic certificate
My country does not issue birth certificate, but they have basic certificate. My mum got my basic certificate online. I didn't have a colour printer so I printed out black and white. My officer kept saying what I have was a copy of my basic certificate. I explained her I was able to download it online but I didn't have a colour printer. She said, "Your govt was supposed to MAIL YOU the certificate"...
I asked my lawyer and contacted the govt of my country (my mum works for the govt, btw). I was told it's totally fine to bring black and white printed document and also the govt of my country has stopped working due to Coronavirus.

3. My address
My officer asked my spouse if my spouse knew I lived in Queens when I was dating my spouse in 2018, which is not true! My spouse answered she didn't know and I've lived in Brooklyn since 2016. My spouse was CORRECT. Then she told my spouse that I lived in Queens in 2018 and their system is 10000% correct. Thank god, I had the exact same application with me and it clearly says I lived in Queens 2015-2016 summer. I showed the officer my tax return and the copy of my green card application stating I've lived in Brooklyn since 2016. She later says "oh I guess our system sometimes makes mistakes....." - I told this story to my lawyer and she just laughed...

Conclusion:
Then interview was about our marriage. It was about my immigration status and tax returns.. - whether I was in the US legally, and whether I paid federal and state taxes every year. She asked 3 questions about our marriage... only 3...... (where we met, how long we've known each other, and joint document) THAT'S IT.

Good luck everyone!
