09-23-21 Made the appointment for application submission at VFS
09-24-21 Dropped off application at VFS in DC
09-27-21 Application at Indian Embassy, DC
10-07-21 Received email about Police Verification Request
10-18-21 Passport print initiated.
10-22-21 Print completed
10-25-21 Passport dispatched via Fedex
10-26-21 Received old and new pp
I was told 3 week processing time. It took a little longer-32 calendar days total. My previous renewal was also at DC Indian Embassy. Police verification did not occur. I put both my addresses in India. My relative reached out to local police station and they said they did not have any pending verification for me. Police verification seems to be a wild card. Based on posts here, it may take place or may not or even take place after pp is issued. It may depend on the State and/or region in India. Mine is Northern Gujarat. Staff at VFS was professional and friendly. Overall happy.
