Questions for Narendra
Hi Narendra,
Can you please help advise on the following:
Most of the comprehensive medical insurance plans such as patriot america, world med, atlas etc, have a look back period defined with respect to pre-existing conditions (usually 2 or 3 years prior to the effective date). The questions /concerns are:
1) Say, the insured has diabetes for the past 30 years and is on regular medication (tablets), and is medically stable. Now, is this considered a pre-existing condition, given that the condition goes back several years prior to the look back period?
2) Same situation as (1) above. Let's assume the insured meets with an accident. Since the accident is not the result of or accruing from diabetes, do the aforesaid insurances cover the entire cost of treatment for the accident OR do they cover only a part after the deductible and co-pay. Asking because even though the accident is unrelated to diabetes, presence of diabetes may
require mode medicines/tests/care etc for the patient and it is unclear if this would be covered.
3) If medical evacuation is deemed essential by the physician, will the aforesaid insurances cover it in all cases or only in cases where there is no pre-existing condition? Here again, it seems like a hazy area, since insurances always find a way to say that the condition is in some way related to diabetes or high BP or some other pre-existing condition..
4) Can you please point me to some website where there are reviews/testimonials on worldmed, patriot america, atlas etc. I found one or two on patriot america but couldn't find any on the others.
5) From your experience on this website over the years, have to seen any overwhemingly +ve experience from people on any one of atlas, patriot america and worldmed?
thanks for your time!
Rgds
