STEM OPT while GC EAD pending

I've seen a lot of posts about people being confused about STEM OPT while C9 EAD is pending. So I want to share my experience. I filed C9 EAD on 07/05/2019 and have been waiting since. Now my initial OPT EAD is expiring today i.e. 01/14/2020. While different people were giving a different opinion, I still filed for the STEM extension on 11/13/2019 since I wanted 180 days of automatic extension to keep my job. Whenever I called USCIS, their agent always told me to withdraw my application since I have GC EAD pending and I can't get 2 EADs but kept it anyway. On 01/10/2019, my STEM extension was approved and I'll soon get my EAD. So please disregard the rumors that you're not eligible for F1 status benefits because you are (until you use GC EAD/AP)!
