TATA - AIG
After getting good recos about TATA-AIG, my parents (67,64yrs) took that plan for their visit to the US last year.
Unfortunately, my dad suffered a major heart attack and had to undergo emergency angiogram and angioplasty. 3 stents were put in the main coronory artery.
Initially, AIG responded pretty well. But once my father checked out of the hospital, we had to contact only the TATA office in Delhi/Mumbai. After several months, they paid a very tiny portion of the bill. They covered pretty much only the doctors fees and room rent. The major portion of the bill is because of the 3 stents and surgical supplies. They classify these as "misc" and covered only several hundred dollors. (BTW, the total bill came to more than 100,000 USD). Until date, my father has been calling every other day and finally is consulting with a cosumer court lawyer.

But, TATA AIG reimbursed the entire amount we spent for the medicines and after-surgery visits to the cardiologist here.

We are planning his visit again later this year, or maybe next year. Any ideas as to what kind of insurance we can buy and how useful will that be in case of another attack or something less severe.

thanks for your input
