Upcoming I-485 Interview
My husband and I were married in July 2008. We have our interview for his (he is from Germany) I-485 in a few weeks. I am extremely nervous about it. Perhaps I am looking at it the wrong way, but I feel like someone is holding my life in their hand. I can't imagine my life without my husband and to think that if someone doesn't believe us he could be taken away is very scarey.
I had read somewhere online that if you have been asked ofr an I-485 interview it means they suspect fraud because these interviews are typically waived. Is that true?
I am reading where people have taking a large amount of photos and did not need them. How many should I take? We have life insurance policies stating one another as beneficiaries, I have medical insurance through work where he was also listed. Now, we do not have joint assets because I was always under the impression that he could not own anything (like our property) until he was a resident. Also, he is not listed on the bills because they want SS# (they check your credit and you have to pay a deposit accordingly). We do own an apartment building and I have leases with old tenants where he and I are both listed as landlords together. Should I take some of those? I also plan on getting a verification from the post office stating that we both registered to the same address. I was considering also getting copies of my file from work where my husband is listed as my emergency contact. Is this too much? Not enough? Also, do we have to take the papers we have previously submitted? For example his vaccinations and physical were submitted when we applied for his visa to be married. Do this need resubmitted? Also, we submitted I-864 with our I-485. Do we give them another I-864? Lastly, would it hurt to take my previous year's tax returns where we filed jointly? I had sent copies with the I-864 but did not know if I should take them as proof of a legitimate relationship. Any advice would be greatly helpful.
