Interview today - RFE and no decision right away
We got in around 8AM this morning.. Sworn in, verified the birth certificates and passports etc and then below;
Can I see your joint tax returns for 2015?
- Here you are mam
Joint bank account?
- Here you go
Why only her name is on the statement?
- It's a joint account but for some reason statements come like this. If you look at deposits, you'll see both our payrolls coming in
(She looks) Oh I see. Where does your wife work?
- At X company
What does she do?
- Account manager. (elaborated a bit afterwards)
Where did you meet?
-She came to my job as a customer - we liked each other and continued talking
OK. Do you have your sponsor's 2015 financials
-Yes, here you are. We needed a sponsor last year based on 2014, but this year our financials are good.
Do you have any relatives in the US?
-No mam.
Has she met your parents?
-Not in person, we skype with them - hopefully end of this year.
(She started looking at the pics - all family photos with my wife's family) and asked "What's your religion?"
- Agnostic
Turns to my wife - for the first time - What do your parents think of you marrying someone another ethnicity?
- My sister married a white guy (she's Asian) so they're completely open minded - plus they like and approve him.
Where do you live?
- This address
Who else lives there?
-Just two of us
Who moved in with who?
- I've been in that address for 3 years now so she moved in with me.
What date did you get married?
- Sept X, 2015
Who came to wedding?
- We went to the city hall so we didn't have a wedding - my boss was with us

I can't make a decision on your case right now. Your civil surgeon did not fill in the form correctly. You need Hepatit B and Varicella vaccines. I'll give you an RFE. You have to have it filled out properly... You could technically do it and bring it today but I can't make a decision right away anyway so I'll give you another date to bring it here in person.
She keeps all the financials, 4-5 photos. Did NOT keep my I94 which was expired - or stamp my passport. She says the interview is over now. Told us to go out and wait.
After 15 minutes she comes out with the RFE letter and another appointment date for a month later. With only my name on it.
RFE for the vaccinations is one thing, I'll have it addressed, that's easy. But what do you think overall about the interview?
Our marriage is legitimate and we had enough evidence.. car insurance, joint cards etc. Only negatives were - not having a wedding and going to the city hall by ourselves and having her name on the bank statements only.
