Hiring a lawyer saved my a$$
My PD is March 15th, 2016. Field office is Denver, Colorado.
My online status is at 'fingerprint fee was received'
Today, I got my email from my lawyer asking if I received the interview notice for September 14th. I was shocked and responded to her with a no on receiving the notice asked her to scan and email be the letter. It turns out that the letter was sent out on Aug 14th and it was addressed to me but they had my address printed incorrectly (instead of Apartment 18, they has Apartment 181). The funny thing is that i received my receipts, EAD/AP card to my correct address, without any issues. I believe the interview notice comes from the field office and they messed up my address. Now, if I didn't have a lawyer, then there would be no way for me to know that my interview has been scheduled as my online status has no updates. I'd have been a no show. And god knows what happens after that. Since my lawyer gets a copy of all notices from USCIS, I was able to get the info in time. For me, it was worth spending the money in hiring her, for this reason alone
