B2 Visa Approved for parents at Mumbai
Hi everyone. Immihelp has provided great help in preparing for the interviews. I would like to share my experience regarding B2 visa for my parents, which got approved at the Mumbai Embassy on 6th sept, 2016
To start with, I had scheduled their OFC appointments on 2nd Sept, 2016 at 11.00 am for getting the biometrics done. Reached an hour early. There were couple of queues for different appointment timings. They had their fingerprints and photo clicked inside, the process was smooth and they were out by around 11.30am. They put stickers on the back of the passports containing details of the Embassy interview.
I had scheduled their Consular Interview on 6th Sept, 2016 at 9.30am. Reached the embassy at around 8.15am. There was already a Queue outside for 9.00 am slot. By 8.45 am, the queue for 9.30 am slot was formed and they were inside the embassy by 9.00 am itself.
The language selected was Hindi since my parents were not used to the american accent. There was no translator, but the VO itself knew to speak hindi. The interview went as follows.

VO: Good Morning.
Parents: Good morning(Passports were handed over)
VO: Why do u want to go to the USA
Dad: For tourism purpose and to visit my Elder son
VO: How did your son go to the US?
Dad: He went there to do his further studies and is currently working there. Its been 10 years since he is in US.
VO: What do you do here?
Dad: I am working at YYYY as a ZZZ.
VO: (After Continuous typing since the start, the golden words)OK, sir, Your Visa is Approved.

Only 3 questions were asked, my mom was not asked any. No documents were asked And my parents were outside by 10am with a delight in their faces. For the note, this was their 2nd attempt in getting the visa. First attempt got rejected in 2011. To my pleasant surprise, I got a message in the evening itself that the passports were ready for pickup with the Visa stamp.
I hope I have been able to contribute something to this forum.

All the best to everyone
