When's the safe time to start looking for jobs?

Hope everyone is having a lovely week! I have a quick question -- when do you think is a good time to begin the jobhunt? My documents were received by USCIS on Sept 2, and I received an email and a text from them today (9/13) with my receipt. Should I be expecting to have my EAD in approx 2.5 months? Also, while jobhunting, for those of you who have already gone through this process, how do you go about explaining your situation during the interviews? Thank you so much for your help!!
