Recently married F-1 guy to a US national
Hi everyone. My wife and I got married about 3 weeks ago. I'm 24; she's 22; each of us never married before and has no criminal record. I'm a graduate student on F-1 status who goes to a school in New Haven, CT; she has just taken a year off. We've been living together for a little over 2 months now, but we had been dating 6 months prior to our marriage. We do have our residential lease in both our names, but we have neither a bank account nor health insurance nor any other thing in our names, except that we split utility bills. Upon visiting this forum, I've instantly counseled myself that these are some of the things we should be working towards. However, my major concern is about finances. Since she is still technically in college, she doesn't work that much; hence, she doesn't make the poverty threshold. Oh, and she doesn't make the threshold precisely cos she has a kid from her previous relationship, a 2-year old kid whom I dearly love so much, and lives with us 3 or 4 times per week. Well, I'm here precisely because I have heard good things about this forum, and would really like to hear anything that I can take under advisement.

Thank you, and good luck to you all!
