Adjustment of Status - I-485

Hi. I already received my work authorization card. I have a pending I-485 application still pending for interview since July 29, 2016. I came to the US with a K1 visa, and prior to getting married I already applied for a social security number. I already requested for a name change and new card in their Fountain Valley CA office and it has been more than a month with no updates. Their telling me that they are still waiting for aproval from DHS regarding my immigration status since I have a pending green card application.

The problem is 1st I never got a social security card when first applied, 2nd is I already changed my name to my husband last name and my work authorization card already reflects my new name. If DHS is waiting for my green card to be approved that'll take months since the Santa Ana, CA office is backlogged with GC application. Now I cannot practically do anything even open a bank account due to this issue!

So my question now is does it really take this long to have a name change based on my status? And besides calling Social Security (which is really unhelpful) who can I can call to speed this up? (Note I already called USCIS Tier 2 and I've been waiting for more than a week now to call them back.) Thanks in advance!
