i just want to share my visa experience.
Visitor visa timeline.
3rd Sep: Applied online.
6th Sep: Passport request
8th Sep: SUbmitted passport in person @ NYC VAC.
13th Sep: collected passport.
26th Sep: landed in Calgary.
28th Sep morn, reached consulate at 8. No place to keep bags in the consulate. They give an address, that's five mins walk. kept bag and returned to consulate by 8:20. Was passing time till 8:40.
8:45: Went in. Security checked the passport and ds 160 and photo.
9:00 went up to the 10 th floor, stood in line.
9:10 first counter they asked passport and I797.
9:15: then 10 finger-printing.
9:25: interview.
VO: good morn
me: Good morn.
VO: docs please.
i submitted the I797 and passport
VO: where do you work?
me: abc bank
VO: wow, i love that. they are my bank.
me: oh, haha.
VO: what are you working as?
me: technology developer.
VO: really? thanks a lot for making the bank APP. i find it so useful.
me: quiet, smiled. ( i had no idea what she talked about. i dont work on any APP).
VO: where did you do your masters and did you do any research?
me: abc Univ. no, i just did coursework and majored in DB.
she then went somewhere and got me a letter. apparently the US work rights.
VO: make sure you're not exploited, know your rights, your visa is approved.
me: thanks, have a good day!
