Thought my experience would help some of you so I will share mine!!!
Case was received on April 15 2016 ( married to USC)
Got my biometric notice on April 23 2016
Biometric appointment : May 10 2016
On May 23 2016 Case was ready to be scheduled for an interview
Got my EAD approved on July 22 2016
Think I got my card in hand within 2 weeks
Went to get my SSN done and wait
( NO REF THANKS GOD!)
Finally got my interview scheduled on Nov 7th 2016 at 8AM in San Antonio Field Office ( They sent me a letter saying their office was changed to NEW LOCATION and might appear the old ones on the notice letter, stick to that friends!)
We arrived at 7.45AM went through the security checkpoint and checked in with the officer in the front. Waited for 15mins to be called in. The white lady told us to put our phone off completely. When we got to the office she asked me to sit in front of her and my husband sat next to me. We both stood up made a promise. What she asked :
- ID ( my passport, ssn, working permit card, driver license, I94)
- Husband's ID ( on his DL the address didn't change under our apartment so she asked why and went a little hard on it)
-Both of our ORIGINAL birth certificates, marriage license.
- My basic info, when/where did I get married?
-Yes/No i485 questions
-When was the last time I enter US? Exact day! I said "around" and she got mad.( I entered as B2 and overstayed for 4 years before I met my husband in 2015). She found out I was overstayed (fun begins!)
-She asked tons of question why did I overstay, did I know that I overstayed, why didn't I go back to my country, who supported money for my during the time, where did I stay during that time....Took about 20mins just to ask about my overstayed.
At this part I honestly assumed I would have failed because I didn't expect her to question about this and I had a really hard time.
-She moved on with my marriage. Where/how did we meet, why did we get married such a short time (Started dating on August 15 2015, engaged on Oct 15th, married on dec 31 2015), where/when did we get married.
-Asked my husband basic info, yes/no questions (she didn't even ask him about me or our marriage!). THATS IT!!!
-Asked to see our tax joint together. She saw both of our name and gave back and said perfect.
-15mins to do her paper works
-Finally she explained about conditional status and whatnot ( I still didnt understand whats going on)
-She asked for my passport, took my i94 and EAD card and cut them off
-My passport was stamped and got approved on the spot. She told me to check mailbox everyday as the card should be received in 14 days.
-Made my husband and I signed for a Petition to removed the conditions on Residence within 90 days prior to the end of the conditional status.
-She walked us out the door and finally turned around said CONGRATULATION! to me.
The interview lasted for an hour. An hour later I checked online and said New card is being produced, same day evening Case was approved on Nov 7 2016!
So glad I went through all of the questions and lady overall was nice and funny. She was a little rough on me because I was overstayed for 4 years and of course she needed an explanation. We brought in tax joint together, our apartment lease/insurance, bank statement joint, car insurance, hotel receipts, electricity bills with our names on, 3 albums of pictures with friends/family/engagement party.... but guess what SHE DIDN'T EVEN ASK TO TAKE A LOOK . We were so surprised.
Goodluck to everyone on your journey! Keep your hopes up guys, nothing is impossible! Have a nice day!
