I-485 TAKING LONGER THAN 1 YEAR
Thank you for taking the time to read about the urgency of my wife to travel back home to her homeland as soon as possible.

We submitted our Permanent Resident application to USCIS in November of 2015, we had an understanding that based on the average wait times of 3-4 months that we could expect our Adjustment of Status interview to take place either in February or March of this year. We therefore planned to have her to have a decision made on her application by April, where we could then travel to my wife's country in order to take care of the many business related issues that needed our attention in person.

My wife and I rely heavily on the income derived from business she conducts there. Although we are currently building up domestic businesses, these take time before they become profitable. We realized that there may be a delay for some unforeseen reason and made sure that we had at least a 3 month financial safety net that would provide for us until July or August in the event of a setback.

We were happy and grateful to receive a notice in June that our interview was scheduled for early July. Unfortunately, just a few days before our interview was to take place we received a notice that our Adjustment of Status interview was cancelled.

This was very bad new for us as we were running out of our safety net funds and desperately needed to go to her country in order to take care of the mounting issues caused by the absence of my wife. She needs to take care of many issues that include partnerships, banking, marketing and inventory. I cannot do this on her behalf as I do not speak the language and do not know her personal contacts there.

We eventually had our rescheduled interview in early October and was told after the interview to wait for a decision.

As of today, November 10, we have not received any notice regarding the results of our interview. This is now more than 1 year after we submitted our application. We have substantial fears that we may run out of funds soon unless we are able to leave soon.

Please let us know if you have any insight into our options or have heard about any way to help our particular kind of situation. We would be very grateful.

Thank you for your time.
